EVIDENCE / ID SPECIALIST

The primary responsibly of this position is to perform specialized work in the investigation of crime scenes, and the identification of victims and suspects for the City’s Police Department. This position will also perform regular secondary duties and other tasks as assigned.

This position will be required to work a flexible, rotating shift that includes on-call duties.

Applicant must have knowledge of forensic science methods and standards; techniques used in print processing, bloodstain pattern analysis, and crime scene procedures; trace evidence collection procedures; forensic imaging software; and police policies and procedures. Must be skilled in evidence collection and crime scene investigation; finger print collection and identification of print pattern matches. Must possess exceptional oral, written, interpersonal, and time management skills; be detailed oriented; and have demonstrated the ability to prepare reports.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school, supplemented by specialized training in forensic science or other related field, and one or more years of experience in crime scene investigation will be accepted. Applicants with Ocean Systems dTectives Computer System and/or Avid Software will be preferred. A valid Drivers License is required.
