Board Member - Brian Dew
Brian Dew began his career in forensics in 1996 as a Forensic Analyst with the Wilson, NC Police Department where he was responsible for major crime scene investigations, latent print examinations and AFIS operations. Brian holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Justice and Public Policy from North Carolina Wesleyan College and during his career has successfully completed in excess of 1200 hours of forensic training in a wide array of evidence collection and laboratory examination topics.
Brian was also certified as an EMT-Paramedic for 16 years. Brian was employed as a senior consultant with Ron Smith and Associates, Inc. providing a variety of forensic training, consulting and testing services both domestically and internationally. He has provided assistance in crime scene investigations, latent print examinations and other related matters to a large number of local, state, and federal agencies. He has also provided lectures at numerous seminars around the country. He is currently
employed with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office in the Crime Laboratory as a latent print examiner.
Brian is a Life Active member of the NCIAI and has served in various positions since 2005 including vice president, president, and board member. He is a Sustaining Active-Life member of the International Association for Identification (IAI) and the Chesapeake Bay Division of the IAI and has served as a member of the IAI’s Latent Print Subcommittee. He is currently serving as a member of the Board of directors of both the NCIAI and the IAI. Brian has achieved professional certification as a Latent Print Examiner with the IAI and maintains credentials as a certified instructor.
