Jessica Dennis is a Crime Scene Investigator for the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. She began her CSI career with the Greensboro Police Department in 2016, where she worked more than 1,800 calls for service and earned multiple commendations and recognition from detectives and Command Staff for her work ethic and dedication. When she joined the newly established BCSO CSI Unit in 2022, she was instrumental in helping to build the unit from the ground up and secure essential lab equipment. She also serves as the lab Chemical Hygiene Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Clemson University and an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and Crime Scene Investigation from Tri-County Technical College. She has specialized training in bloodstain pattern analysis, shooting incident documentation, death investigations, crime scene reconstruction, courtroom testimony, forensic anthropology and burned remains, advanced crime scene photography, and chemical latent processing. She is also an International Association for Identification (IAI) Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst.
Jessica is currently serving as the 2nd Vice President for the North Carolina Division of the IAI. She has also served on the NCIAI merchandise committee and on the conference committee. Jessica is a current member of the NCIAI as well as the IAI.
