2nd Vice President - Jaclynn McKay

Jaclynn McKay is a Research Forensic Scientist at RTI International, a nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Prior to her tenure at RTI, Ms. McKay worked for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Forensic Services Laboratory as a Serologist in the DNA Casework Department, and then as a Special Agent in the Crime Scene Department. She has performed serological analysis on hundreds of cases for the presence of biological fluids as well as conducted several hundred scene investigations across the state of South Carolina. Ms. McKay has specialized training in bloodstain pattern analysis, shooting incident documentation, and crime scene reconstruction. She is also an International Association for Identification (IAI) Certified Crime Scene Analyst and a court qualified expert in body fluid identification and crime scene investigation. She is using her laboratory and field experience to assist RTI by developing innovative educational materials and events for the forensic science community, participating in research to advance technology and address current challenges in the field of forensic science, and facilitating support for active missing persons and unidentified remains cases throughout the country. 

 

In addition to her work, Ms. McKay serves as the 2nd Vice President for the North Carolina Division of the IAI and as a member on the IAI Crime Scene Investigation Science and Practice Subcommittee. Ms. McKay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science with a concentration in Forensic Biology and minors in both Biology and Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University as well as a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Strategic Management from Boston University. She also holds several professional memberships, including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (IABPA), the North Carolina Division of the IAI, and the IAI.
