Clinton Babb is currently a Police Officer with the Cary Police Department and is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective Corporal. Clinton began his career in law enforcement with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the courts as a Bailiff. Shortly thereafter Clinton transferred to the Patrol Division where he worked until 2006 when he was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. While assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division, Clinton specialized in the areas of Crime Scene Investigations and Latent Print Analysis.

 

In 2013, Clinton went to work for the Durham Police Department as a full-time Latent Print Examiner and reserve Police Officer. During this time, Clinton was assigned as the Technical Leader for the accredited Latent Print Unit. Clinton stayed in that position until 2016 when he went to work for the Cary Police Department. During his time in Cary, Clinton has been assigned to the Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer and a Field Investigator and to the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective. Clinton is currently assigned as one of the supervisors for the Criminal Investigations Division as a Detective Corporal. Clinton also volunteers with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office in their Latent Print Section.

Clinton Babb holds an Associate’s of Science Degree in General Studies from Colorado Technical University where he graduated with Highest Honors. Clinton also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Clinton Babb holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from both the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the NC Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission. Clinton is also a certified General and Specialized Explosives and Hazardous Materials Instructor through the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

Clinton Babb is a current member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), as well as the North Carolina Division of the International Association for Identification (NCIAI) where he is currently serving as the Sergeant at Arms for 2021-2022. Clinton Babb is a past officer in the NCIAI for the years 2015-2021.

Clinton Babb is currently certified by the International Association for Identification as both a Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE) and a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst (CSCSA)
