Monday's Keynote

Sins of a Handyman
In the quiet communities of Greenville, South Carolina, a sinister puzzle began to unravel with a single missing person’s report. When 80-year-old Edna Suttles vanished from her Travelers Rest home in August of 2021, local Investigators expected a typical Missing Persons investigation. Instead, she would become the final victim to expose the horrific, hidden life of a calculating predator: Daniel Printz.

To the outside world, Printz was just a handyman, married, and living in Bostic, NC. In reality, he was a master manipulator who targeted the most vulnerable. After surveillance footage showed Printz abducting a sedated Suttles and driving her across state lines into North Carolina, the FBI and local NC agencies joined the investigation. As the handcuffs clicked shut on Printz, a decades-long history of absolute evil finally came to light.

Suttles’ tragic disappearance was the key that unlocked a trail of horror, leading detectives backward through a maze of stolen identities, plundered bank accounts, and the previous deaths of Nancy Rego and others. This is the chilling true-crime account of a modern-day monster whose final crime sparked a multi-state investigation, forcing a killer to confess his "sins" and ensuring he would never hunt again.

Friday's Keynote

The Hunt for the BTK Killer
This presentation will explore the serial murder case involving Dennis Rader (BTK) who terrorized the Wichita, Kansas area for over 30 years. BTK committed a total of 10 murders beginning in 1974 and ending in 1988. BTK was a very unusual serial killer in that he readily communicated with the public through the media and even named himself BTK (bind, torture, and kill). This presentation will guide the audience through all 10 murders beginning in 1974 and culminating in Rader’s identification and arrest. It will also detail the investigative strategy used to lure Rader to continue to communicate with law enforcement, which eventually led to his identification. Additionally, the interview strategy used to secure Rader’s confession will be discussed, and the actual interview video will be shown.
