Bradley Whitaker is a Captain with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to oversee the Forensic Services Division, as well as the Communication Center.  Captain Whitaker began his career in law enforcement with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office in June 1997 as a Sheriff’s Dispatcher, where he worked until 1998 when he became a Deputy assigned to the Patrol Division.  Bradley Whitaker worked in the Patrol Division until 2003 when he was promoted to Detective Sergeant.  While assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, Whitaker specialized in Crime Scene Investigations, Arson Investigations, Latent Print Analysis, and Computer Crimes Against Children.

Captain Whitaker holds an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and is also a 2015 graduate of the Law Enforcement Leadership and Management Program hosted by the Randolph Community College, a graduate of the North Carolina Public Safety Leadership Academy, as well as a 2020 graduate of the Law Enforcement Executives Program at N.C. State University. 

Captain Whitaker is a current member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), as well as the North Carolina Division of the International Association for Identification (NCIAI) where he served as the President for 2017-2018, and currently serving on the Board of Directors.  Captain Whitaker is also a member and past President of the Moore County Law Enforcement Officers Association (MCLEO); a member of the North Carolina Law Enforcement Officers’ Association (NCLEOA); a member of the North Carolina Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (NCIAAI); Vice-President of the Carthage Firefighter’s Association and is an active participate with the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (NCICAC).

Bradley Whitaker is currently certified by the International Association for Identification as both a Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE) and a Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI).
